Which mobster family, syndicate is the most powerful when it comes to violence, money, influence (state, local), feared etc. in their respective country... the japanese, russians, italians, etc. (examples)?

Right now I would have to say it's the various Mexican cartels. They control the flow of drugs from South America and distribute to other countries.



Not only that, but they are extremely violent. There's a group called Los Zetas that was an elite group of Mexican soldiers trained by U.S. special forces. This group began working as hit men for the Gulf Cartel and now run their own drug trafficking operations... look them up.
